Legal Voice is a Seattle-based progressive nonprofit legal advocacy organization (founded 1978 as the Northwest Women’s Law Center and renamed Legal Voice in 2009) that uses litigation, legislative advocacy, policy advocacy, and public education to advance gender equity and the rights of women and 2SLGBTQ+ people across the U.S. Northwest.
Reproductive rights and access, abortion policy, gender-based violence prevention and survivor rights, LGBTQ+ civil rights, employment and economic justice, public benefits and healthcare access, education equity, affirmative action, rights of incarcerated people, and related civil rights and anti-discrimination measures
Primarily foundation grants and philanthropic support, supplemented by individual donations, corporate gifts, and earned revenue from trainings and events
Works in coalition with regional and national reproductive-rights and civil-rights groups and legal services organizations, including partnerships with the National Institute for Reproductive Health and local Northwest legal aid and advocacy coalitions
