About the Organization

The Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) is a national, member-led trade association founded in 1947 that represents and advocates for the livestock marketing industry, particularly local livestock auction markets. Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, LMA serves as the voice for auction markets on state and federal legislative and regulatory issues and provides members with legal assistance, public policy representation, industry information, insurance products, and business services. It represents more than 80 percent of regular-selling livestock auction markets in the United States.

Policy Goals

Agricultural and livestock marketing policy, livestock auction regulation, federal and state regulatory compliance, price discovery and competition in livestock markets, animal health and traceability, and policies affecting rural businesses and agricultural commerce

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues, program service revenue, insurance and business service offerings, event revenues, and other industry-related services rather than charitable contributions

Affiliates

Member livestock auction markets across the United States, the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship, regional and state livestock marketing associations, and industry partners within the broader agricultural sector
