About the Organization

The Maine Lobstermen’s Association (MLA), founded in 1954, is a member-driven industry organization representing commercial lobstermen across Maine. It advocates for a sustainable lobster resource while protecting the economic livelihoods of fishermen and coastal communities, and engages in state and federal regulatory, legislative, and legal matters affecting the lobster fishery.

Policy Goals

Fisheries management and conservation policy, marine resource sustainability, federal whale protection regulations, offshore wind development impacts, working waterfront preservation, and state and federal regulatory and legislative advocacy affecting the lobster industry

Funding

Membership dues, individual donations, legal defense fund contributions, and grants
