About the Organization

The Michigan Department of Attorney General is the state of Michigan’s chief legal office, led by Attorney General Dana Nessel. The department provides legal representation and advice to the state and its agencies, enforces state laws, pursues civil and consumer protection actions, represents crime victims, and brings or defends litigation on behalf of Michigan and its residents.

Policy Goals
