About the Organization

The Mississippi Agricultural Industry Council (MAIC) is a statewide agricultural trade association founded in the early 1960s that represents a broad cross-section of Mississippi’s agricultural sector, including chemical, seed and fertilizer companies, growers, government agencies, research institutions, and agricultural media. The organization works to preserve and promote the viability of Mississippi agriculture through education, communication, leadership, and advocacy on key industry issues.

Policy Goals

MAIC typically engages on agricultural and farm policy issues affecting Mississippi producers and agribusinesses, including environmental regulation, crop protection and fertilizer policy, agricultural education, research funding, and state and federal regulatory matters impacting the agricultural industry.

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues, conference and event fees, and industry support from agricultural businesses and affiliated stakeholders.

Membership includes representatives from agricultural chemical, seed, and fertilizer companies; Mississippi State University Extension Service; the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce; the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and other public and private agricultural stakeholders.
