About the Organization

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) is a national nonprofit advocacy organization that represents the interests of motorcyclists and state motorcyclists’ rights organizations at the federal level. The MRF works to protect motorcyclists’ legal rights, influence federal transportation and public safety policy, oppose federal legislation or regulation perceived to unduly restrict motorcycling, and promote rider education and safety programs that respect individual choice.

Policy Goals

Federal transportation and safety regulations affecting motorcyclists (including helmet and equipment laws, vehicle standards, noise and emissions rules), motorist awareness and roadway infrastructure issues, funding for rider training and safety programs, protection of state prerogatives on motorcycle laws, and opposition to federal policies viewed as infringing motorcyclists’ freedoms.

Funding

Primarily membership dues and donations from individual riders and state motorcyclists’ rights organizations, supplemented by event revenue and sponsorships from motorcycle-related businesses and allied groups.

Affiliates

State motorcyclists’ rights organizations (SMROs) including ABATE chapters and similar state groups, and allied national organizations such as the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA).
