About the Organization

The NAACP Virginia State Conference is the state branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, a membership-based civil rights organization that works to eliminate race-based discrimination and to secure political, educational, social, and economic equality for African Americans and other marginalized communities across Virginia.

Policy Goals

Typically pursues policies on voting rights and access, criminal justice reform and police accountability, educational equity, economic and workforce opportunity, health care access, fair housing and anti-discrimination protections, and protections for immigrant and civil liberties.

Primarily funded by membership dues, individual donations and fundraising events, foundation and government grants, and occasional corporate or organizational sponsorships.
