About the Organization

The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) is a national nonprofit membership organization that represents regional planning organizations and councils of governments across the United States. Its mission is to advocate for regional cooperation and coordinated planning to improve transportation, economic development, infrastructure, and quality of life in metropolitan and rural regions.

Policy Goals

Regional transportation planning, infrastructure investment, economic development, environmental sustainability, emergency preparedness, housing, and federal funding programs that support metropolitan planning organizations and councils of governments.

Funding

Membership dues from regional councils and metropolitan planning organizations, conference and event revenue, and federal grants or contracts.

Affiliates

Metropolitan planning organizations, councils of governments, regional planning commissions, National League of Cities, National Association of Counties, and U.S. Department of Transportation partnerships.
