About the Organization

The National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) is a U.S.-based nonprofit that provides legal services, litigation, and policy advocacy to immigrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and people in immigration detention, with a mission to secure human rights and access to justice for immigrant communities.

Policy Goals

Immigration law and policy reform, access to counsel and due process for detained immigrants, asylum and humanitarian protection, alternatives to detention, family immigration, removal defense, and systemic litigation to protect immigrant rights.

Funding

Primarily funded by philanthropic foundation grants, individual donations and fundraising, program service revenue and contracts, and government and private grants.

Affiliates

Heartland Alliance and its immigrant-justice programs; collaborations with national and local immigrant-rights organizations, civil‑rights groups, and networks of pro bono attorneys and law firms.
