About the Organization

The National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is a nonprofit legal and policy organization that works to defend and advance the rights of low-income immigrants in the United States through impact litigation, policy analysis, public education, and legislative and administrative advocacy.

Policy Goals

Advocates on federal and state immigration policy, enforcement and deportation practices, access to public benefits and healthcare for immigrants, family unity, removal defense, labor and workplace protections for immigrant workers, and broader immigrant and racial justice reforms.

Funding

Primarily funded by foundation and philanthropic grants, supplemented by individual donations, program service revenue, and occasional government or private contracts.

Affiliates

Works in partnership with civil rights and immigrant‑rights organizations and coalitions, including the ACLU, American Immigration Council, local legal services providers, and national immigrant justice networks.
