About the Organization

The National League of Cities (NLC) is a non-partisan organization that represents and advocates for the interests of cities, towns, and villages across the United States. Founded in 1924, its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance by providing research, technical assistance, and advocacy on behalf of municipal governments.

Policy Goals

Municipal governance, local infrastructure investment, public safety, housing affordability, economic development, transportation, broadband access, workforce development, environmental sustainability, and federal funding and regulatory policies affecting local governments.

Funding

Membership dues from cities, towns, and villages, conference and program revenue, grants, and partnerships.

Affiliates

National League of Cities Institute, Local Infrastructure Hub, CitiesSpeak, and partnerships with state municipal leagues and local elected officials nationwide.
