About the Organization

The National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) is an independent, nonpartisan nonprofit organization that advocates to protect and enhance the U.S. National Park System through science-based policy, legal action, public education, and on-the-ground conservation work.

Policy Goals

Pursues federal policies to increase funding and staffing for the National Park Service, protect park resources from development, pollution and extractive activities, advance climate resilience and habitat conservation, improve visitor services and infrastructure, support new park designations and boundary expansions, and strengthen oversight of concessions and commercial activities within parks.

Funding

Primarily funded by individual members and donor contributions and foundation grants, supplemented by major gifts, events, and limited corporate partnerships.

Affiliates

National Park Foundation; NPCA Action Fund (advocacy arm); partnerships with local 'Friends of the Park' groups and national conservation organizations such as The Wilderness Society and Sierra Club.

Legal Structure

Non-profit organization (national conservation 501(c)(3), with an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy arm)
