The National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance (NQAPIA) is a national federation and advocacy organization that builds power among LGBTQ+ Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities through leadership development, grassroots capacity building, policy advocacy, regional convenings, trainings, and fiscal sponsorship for emerging groups.
Advocates for LGBTQ+ and transgender rights and protections, anti-discrimination and anti-violence measures, immigrant and refugee rights affecting AANHPI communities, language access and culturally competent health and mental health services, civic engagement and voter outreach, and funding/equity for community-based AANHPI organizations.
Primarily philanthropic support from foundations and grantmakers, individual donations, event and program revenue, and fees or contributions associated with fiscal sponsorship and capacity-building programs.
Collaborates with national and local AANHPI and LGBTQ+ organizations (e.g., Human Rights Campaign on joint projects), has historic ties with API Wellness Center, and has been associated with leaders such as co-founder and longtime organizer Glenn Magpantay; also partners with regional grassroots AANHPI groups across the United States.
