About the Organization

The Nebraska Bankers Association is the statewide trade association representing commercial banks and savings institutions in Nebraska. Founded in 1890, its mission is to serve as the voice and resource for the state’s banking industry by providing legislative representation, education and training, industry promotion, cost‑saving products and services, and member support to help Nebraska banks respond to a changing regulatory and economic environment.

Policy Goals

State banking regulation and supervision, bank regulatory compliance, deposit and collateral rules, community and agricultural lending policy, payment systems and fintech issues, taxation and business climate matters affecting banks, workforce development and banking education, and public‑private programs that affect financial institutions.

Funding

Primarily membership dues and fees from member banks, revenue from conferences and training, sponsorships and vendor partnerships, and income from its for‑profit subsidiary (Nebraska Bankers Insurance & Services Company) and other member services.

Affiliates

Member commercial and savings banks across Nebraska; Nebraska Bankers Insurance & Services Company (NBISCO); national and state industry partners such as the American Bankers Association; related state groups including Nebraska Independent Community Bankers; and senior leaders such as Richard J. Baier (President & CEO) and former association chairs who are prominent in state banking and public life.
