New Disabled South is a regional disability rights and disability justice organization based in Atlanta that builds coalitions, conducts research, and advocates for state and local policy change across 14 Southern states to improve economic security, care, criminal justice outcomes, voting access, and everyday inclusion for disabled people.
Advocacy for Medicaid expansion and investment in home- and community-based services, anti-poverty measures for disabled people (including ending subminimum wage and restrictive asset limits), criminalization and decarceration of disabled people, accessible transportation and housing, voting access and democratic participation, disability-justice centered education and narrative change at state and local levels
Primarily foundation and philanthropic grants supplemented by individual donations, grassroots fundraising, and modest earned revenue
New Disabled South Rising (501(c)(4) advocacy arm); Dom Kelly (co-founder & CEO); Kehsi Iman Wilson (co-founder & COO); Mia Ives‑Rublee (board chair); partnerships and funders including national foundations and progressive policy groups
