About the Organization

The North American Renderers Association (NARA), founded in 1933 and headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is the trade association representing the U.S. and Canadian rendering industry. It advocates for the sustainable processing of animal by-products into food, feed, fuel, and other products, and provides technical, regulatory, and market development support to its member companies.

Policy Goals

Agricultural and food policy, animal health and biosecurity, food and feed safety regulation, environmental and sustainability standards, international trade and export market development, and policies affecting the rendering and biofuels industries.

Funding

Membership dues from rendering companies and industry partners, along with program and market development support including cooperative activities with government agencies.

Affiliates

Member rendering companies across the United States and Canada, the World Renderers Organization, U.S. Department of Agriculture cooperative programs, and President and CEO Kent Swisher.

Legal Structure

Non-profit trade association organized under IRS 501(c)(6)
