About the Organization

Northarvest Bean Growers Association (NBGA) is a nonprofit agricultural trade organization founded in 1976 as a cooperative effort between dry bean growers in North Dakota and Minnesota. It represents approximately 2,400 to 2,800 farm families and is the largest group of dry bean farmers in the United States. NBGA works to strengthen the dry bean industry through research funding, market development, export promotion, nutrition education, and advocacy on behalf of producers.

Policy Goals

Agricultural research funding, crop insurance and farm safety net programs, export promotion and international trade policy, nutrition and dietary guidance policy, market development, and federal and state agricultural appropriations affecting dry bean producers.

Funding

Member grower assessments and industry contributions, including checkoff-style funding for research and promotion activities.

North Dakota Dry Bean Council, Minnesota Dry Bean Research and Promotion Council, USA Pulses, and The Bean Institute.
