About the Organization

The Northwest Progressive Institute (NPI) is a regional progressive strategy center and advocacy-focused think tank based in Redmond, Washington. Founded in 2003, NPI conducts policy research, media and communications work, public education, and grassroots organizing to advance progressive state and local policy in the Pacific Northwest, with an emphasis on protecting public services, expanding civic participation, and countering conservative ballot measures and misinformation.

Policy Goals

State and local progressive public policy: defending public services and transit funding; voting access and democracy reforms; environmental and climate protections; tax and budget policy that supports public investment; labor and equity issues; opposition to anti-tax and initiative campaigns that seek to cut government funding.

Funding

Primarily funded by individual donations and membership dues, supplemented by fundraising events, small grants, and project-specific partner support.
