About the Organization

The Nuclear Engineering Department Heads Organization (NEDHO) is a loosely formed alliance of chairs and heads of nuclear engineering schools, departments, and programs in North America that provides a forum for discussion, coordination, and collaboration on issues affecting nuclear and radiological science and engineering education and research.

Policy Goals

Advocates for higher education and research funding for nuclear engineering, support for training and research reactors and university infrastructure, scholarship and fellowship funding, accreditation and curriculum standards, workforce development in nuclear science and engineering, and outreach to policymakers on nuclear technology and education issues.

Funding

Primarily supported by member institutions and the volunteer time of participating department heads, with in-kind collaboration and occasional support from professional societies and partner organizations.

Affiliates

Collaborates closely with professional organizations such as the American Nuclear Society and the Nuclear Energy Institute and comprises department heads from major North American nuclear engineering programs (examples include NC State, University of Michigan, Purdue, Texas A&M, and Penn State).
