About the Organization

OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates, Greater Cleveland is the local chapter of OCA, a membership‑driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The chapter advances the social, political, and economic well‑being of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in Northeast Ohio through civic engagement, voter registration and education, youth leadership programs, cultural events, community services, and advocacy against discrimination and bias.

Policy Goals

Civil rights and anti-discrimination; voting rights and civic participation and census outreach; immigrant and language access issues; hate-crimes prevention and public safety for AAPIs; education and youth leadership development; local economic development and support for AAPI small businesses; community health and social service access.

Funding

Membership dues, individual donations, grants, program and event fundraising (e.g., festivals and sponsorships), and local fundraising activities.

Affiliates

OCA National Center (OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates), other OCA chapters nationwide, collaborative partners such as the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), AsiaTown Cleveland and local community organizations (e.g., International Community Health Center), Cleveland Asian Festival and chapter leaders including President Lisa Wong.
