The Office of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia is the state executive office led in 2024 by Governor Glenn Youngkin. It serves as Virginia’s chief executive authority, responsible for implementing and enforcing state law, developing and advancing the governor’s policy agenda, preparing and administering the state budget, making gubernatorial appointments, coordinating state agency operations, and directing emergency response and intergovernmental relations on behalf of the Commonwealth.
Sets and advocates for state-level policies across education (school accountability, literacy, school choice initiatives), economic development and business recruitment, tax and fiscal policy (tax relief and budget priorities), public safety and law enforcement support, behavioral health and social services reforms, workforce and job training programs, energy and infrastructure policy, and veterans and family services.
Funded through appropriations in the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state budget (taxpayer dollars/general fund) and related state program revenues.
