OPAWL — Building AAPI Feminist Leadership is a grassroots, member-led community organization founded in Ohio in 2016 that organizes for social justice and elevates the voices, visibility, and progressive leadership of Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women, nonbinary, and trans people through community building, art and storytelling, political education, and organizing campaigns.
Typically advances intersectional progressive policies including AAPI civic engagement and leadership development, gender equity and reproductive justice, immigrant and refugee rights, anti-racism and racial justice, survivor support and gender-based violence prevention, community safety and police accountability, and expanded access to health and social services.
Primarily funded by individual donations, small-dollar fundraising and grants, with fiscal sponsorship and administrative support provided through a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor (Ohio Voice).
Fiscal sponsor Ohio Voice; regional hubs and partnerships with local AAPI and progressive organizations in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Dayton and broader coalition partners in Ohio.
