About the Organization

PFLAG Sacramento is a volunteer-led local chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) that for over 40 years has provided peer support, education, resource referrals, community outreach, scholarships, and local advocacy to LGBTQ+ people, their families, and allies in the Greater Sacramento area. The chapter runs monthly confidential support groups, a lending library, a warm-line, public education and tabling, and participates in local coalition advocacy on behalf of LGBTQ+ youth and families.

Policy Goals

Supports policies that advance LGBTQ+ equality and safety, including anti-discrimination protections, transgender youth and healthcare access, inclusive school policies and curricula, mental-health resources and family support services, hate-crime protections, and local government measures that protect and affirm LGBTQ+ residents.

Funding

Primarily funded by individual donations, local fundraising and membership contributions, small grants and sponsorships, and occasional support from PFLAG National; operations are heavily volunteer-supported.
