Protect Our Water, Heritage, Rights (POWHR) is a grassroots Appalachian coalition focused on environmental justice, protecting waterways and communities, and opposing fossil fuel infrastructure such as the Mountain Valley Pipeline. It works across West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina to promote a just transition to renewable energy and community-centered climate action.
Environmental justice, clean energy transition, opposition to fossil fuel pipelines and compressor stations, water and land protection, eminent domain and property rights, Indigenous and community rights, climate advocacy, and public participation in permitting and regulatory processes.
Primarily supported through donations and grants administered by Virginia Organizing, its 501(c)(3) nonprofit partner under a joint plan of work.
