About the Organization

The Public Housing Authorities Directors Association (PHADA) is a national nonprofit membership organization founded in 1979 that represents executive directors of public housing authorities across the United States. Based in Washington, D.C., PHADA advocates before Congress and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on behalf of more than 1,900 housing agencies that administer public housing, Housing Choice Voucher, and related affordable housing programs. The association provides policy analysis, professional development, and regulatory guidance to support the operation and preservation of safe, affordable housing for low-income households.

Policy Goals

Federal appropriations for public housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs; HUD regulatory reform and program administration; preservation and modernization of public housing stock; Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD); housing finance and capital funding; and legislative changes affecting eligibility, compliance, and operational flexibility for public housing authorities.

Funding

Primarily funded through membership dues, program service revenue from conferences and training, and related association activities.
