QLaw Foundation of Washington is a Seattle-based nonprofit that provides free and low-cost legal services, community legal education, advocacy, amicus work, and impact litigation to advance the rights and access to justice of 2SLGBTQIA+ Washingtonians. It was founded as a sibling organization to the QLaw Association of Washington and focuses on removing legal barriers facing queer and trans people across the state.
Pursues LGBTQ2S+/2SLGBTQIA+ civil-rights and access-to-justice policies including nondiscrimination protections, access to gender-affirming care and identity documents, family and parental rights, housing and employment protections, court and administrative reform to reduce barriers for queer and trans people, plus legislative advocacy, trainings, amicus briefs, and impact litigation.
Primarily funded by individual donations, foundation and philanthropic grants, fundraising campaigns and events, occasional public or private grants, and supplemented by pro bono volunteer attorney support.
QLaw Association of Washington; partnerships and frequent collaboration with local bar associations (e.g., King County Bar Association), legal aid organizations, law school programs, and statewide LGBTQ2S+ advocacy and community organizations.
