The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) is a national trade association representing more than 200 companies across the full railway supply chain, including railcar manufacturers, component suppliers, maintenance providers, and railcar owners and lessors. Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., RSI advocates on behalf of suppliers to North American freight and passenger railroads and works to advance safety, innovation, technology, and sustainability in the rail industry.
RSI advocates on federal and state legislative and regulatory policies affecting the rail supply industry, including rail safety standards, freight and passenger rail infrastructure investment, tank car safety, manufacturing and supply chain policy, transportation funding, and regulatory compliance matters impacting rail equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
Primarily funded through member dues, conference and event revenue, and industry program services.
