Recycle Hawaiʻi is a Hawaiʻi Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization focused on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and broader zero-waste and climate solutions. Its mission is to help communities design practical resource-recovery systems, educate residents, and protect island ecosystems.
Waste diversion, recycling and composting infrastructure, reuse systems, zero-waste planning, plastic pollution reduction, environmental education, climate and sustainability policy, and youth-led environmental programs.
Primarily supported by charitable donations, grants, sponsorships, and program partnerships with public and private entities.
Board leadership includes Topher Dean, Sam De La Paz, Tanya Yamanaka Aynessazian, and Terri Markovich; staff leadership includes Kristine Kubat and Justin Canelas. The organization also partners with local governments, schools, businesses, and community nonprofits.
