Region Five Development Commission (R5DC) is a regional governmental planning and development organization established in 1973 under the Minnesota Regional Development Act of 1969. Serving Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in north central Minnesota, the commission coordinates state, federal, and local planning and development efforts and provides technical assistance in community development, economic development, and transportation, with an emphasis on local foods, agriculture, renewable energy, and regional collaboration.
Regional economic development, comprehensive planning, small business and revolving loan programs, transportation coordination, workforce development, agriculture and local foods systems, renewable energy and environmental planning, and grant administration for federal and state community development initiatives.
Primarily funded through federal and state grants and contracts, intergovernmental agreements, and program administration funds, supplemented by foundation grants and revenue from affiliated lending programs.
