The Robert & Ethel Kennedy Human Rights Center is a nonpartisan human rights organization founded in 1968 to advance the legacies of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy. The Center pursues strategic litigation, public advocacy, corporate accountability work, and human rights education to hold governments and institutions accountable and to promote civil and human rights domestically and internationally.
Advocacy and litigation on civil and human rights, immigration and asylum protections, criminal justice reform and decarceration, policing and detention oversight, anti-discrimination and racial justice, corporate accountability and responsible investing, and human rights education and civic space protections.
Primarily funded by private philanthropy (individual donors and family foundations), institutional grants, corporate sponsorships and partnerships, and revenue from fundraising events and donor programs.
Prominent affiliations include leaders of the Kennedy family and network (e.g., Kerry Kennedy), board and advisory members such as Joseph P. Kennedy III and Frank Baker, the Ripple of Hope award and laureate network, and a range of domestic and international human rights partner organizations.
