The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians is a federally recognized Native American tribe based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It is one of the largest tribes east of the Mississippi River and works to protect tribal sovereignty, preserve Anishinaabe culture, and provide governmental services, economic development, health care, education, and social services to its members.
