About the Organization

Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is a national network of groups and individuals working to mobilize white people to organize for racial and economic justice. Founded in 2009, SURJ focuses on building grassroots movements that confront systemic racism and support campaigns led by Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.

Policy Goals

SURJ advocates for racial justice, criminal justice reform, voting rights protections, immigrant rights, equitable economic policies, and policies aimed at dismantling systemic racism in public institutions.

Funding

Primarily funded through individual donations, foundation grants, and grassroots fundraising efforts.

Affiliates

Collaborates with local SURJ chapters nationwide and partners with racial justice organizations and coalitions led by communities of color.
