The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas Justice Team is the public-policy and advocacy arm of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. Rooted in Catholic social teaching, the team educates, organizes and lobbies on behalf of marginalized communities, provides accompaniment to survivors and those in need, and seeks systemic change on issues of social and economic justice.
Immigration and migrant rights; anti-human trafficking and survivor support; criminal justice reform and restorative justice; economic justice and poverty alleviation; access to health care and social services; environmental stewardship and care for creation; affordable housing and community development; faith-based civic engagement and public witness.
Primarily funded through congregational support from the Sisters of Mercy, charitable donations from individuals and foundations, grants, and limited program revenue.
