The Spectrum Center of Hattiesburg is a volunteer-led nonprofit community center founded in 2014 that provides resources, mutual aid, support groups, events and advocacy for LGBTQ+ people in Hattiesburg and the Pine Belt region of Mississippi. The organization runs youth and adult support programs, a community library, health referrals and local pride events while working to reduce discrimination and increase safety and inclusion for queer and trans residents.
Local and state LGBTQ+ civil rights and non‑discrimination measures, protections and services for transgender and queer youth, access to affirming health and social services, anti‑bullying and school inclusion policies, community mutual aid and housing/financial assistance programs, and public education to reduce stigma.
Primarily individual donations, local fundraising and event revenue, occasional grants and in‑kind support; operations are largely volunteer staffed.
Local Pride and advocacy partners such as Human Rights Campaign Mississippi and Campaign for Southern Equality, founding leader Lynn \"LB\" Bell and various local health and social service collaborators in the Pine Belt region.
