About the Organization

The TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC) is a U.S.-based community-led nonprofit that advocates for and provides services to Two-Spirit, transgender, gender-expansive and intersex (2TGI) Latinx immigrants and communities. Founded in Los Angeles in 2009, TLC combines grassroots organizing, leadership development and direct service delivery — including violence prevention, housing and healthcare navigation — to advance safety, dignity and opportunity for TGI Latinx people nationally.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for transgender and gender-expansive rights, immigrant and asylum protections for Latinx trans people, access to gender-affirming healthcare, anti-violence and survivor services, housing and economic supports, nondiscrimination in employment and public services, and community leadership and civic engagement initiatives.

Funding

Mix of government grants (local and state), private foundation support, philanthropic grants and individual donor contributions; also fundraising and community support for program operations.

Affiliates

Led by founder and long-time executive Bamby Salcedo and affiliated with the TransLatin@ Coalition Institute, multiple state chapters and partnerships with local governments, foundations and broader national LGBTQ+ and immigrant-rights organizations.
