The U.S. Impact Investing Alliance is a U.S.-based field-building non-profit that promotes impact investing—placing measurable social, economic and environmental outcomes alongside financial return—by raising awareness, catalyzing investor action, and advocating for public policies and partnerships that direct private capital toward inclusive and sustainable community and economic outcomes.
Advocates for policies that expand impact investing and community investment (including support for the Community Reinvestment Act), clarify ERISA and fiduciary guidance to permit consideration of environmental, social and governance and impact factors, promote capital markets reforms that advance stakeholder capitalism, incentivize employee and community ownership models, and foster public–private partnerships and tax or grant mechanisms to mobilize private capital for social and environmental goals.
Primarily supported by philanthropic foundations and institutional grantors, project and program grants, partner organizations and donor contributions; also engages institutional partners and coalition members for program support.
Partner and funder relationships with foundations and impact organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Omidyar Network, F.B. Heron Foundation and B Lab; collaborative work with institutions like the Federal Reserve Bank of New York; leadership and advisory ties to individuals including Fran Seegull (President), Darren Walker (Ford Foundation) and Tracy Palandjian (Social Finance US).
