About the Organization

Unitarian Universalists for Social Justice (UUSJ) is a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy organization that mobilizes Unitarian Universalist individuals and congregations to influence federal public policy. UUSJ provides education, action alerts, and Capitol Hill advocacy to advance a just, compassionate, and sustainable society in line with Unitarian Universalist principles.

Policy Goals

Federal social-justice and civil-rights legislation and administrative policy affecting economic justice, climate and environmental justice, immigration and refugee rights, healthcare access, voting rights and democratic reform, racial and LGBTQ+ equity, and related UU values-driven issues.

Funding

Primarily supported by individual donations and membership dues from UU congregations and individuals, supplemented by small grants and charitable contributions; accepts public donations and contributions through online giving platforms.

Affiliates

Associated with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and frequently collaborates with Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC), Unitarian Universalist Ministry for Earth (UUMFE), UU State Action Networks, and UU congregations and regional UU organizations nationwide.
