Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) is a congressionally chartered nonprofit veterans service organization founded in 1978 to represent and serve Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA conducts education, outreach, claims assistance and national advocacy on veterans' health, benefits, POW/MIA accounting and other issues affecting Vietnam-era veterans under the guiding principle, \"Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.\"
Advocacy for expanded VA health care access and quality, disability compensation and benefits for toxic exposures (e.g., Agent Orange and burn pits), mental health and suicide prevention, POW/MIA accounting, veterans' homelessness and employment supports, oversight and accountability of veterans programs and benefits, and legislation affecting Vietnam-era veterans and their families
Primarily membership dues, individual donations, fundraising and private grants; the organization states it operates without direct funding from any branch of the federal government
National organization with state councils and local chapters, the Auxiliary of Vietnam Veterans of America (AVVA), founders Bobby Muller and Stuart F. Feldman, and frequent collaboration with other veterans service organizations and advocacy groups
