VoteRiders is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2012 that focuses on voter identification education and direct assistance to ensure eligible Americans can obtain the IDs required to cast a ballot. The organization operates a national helpline, runs in-person and virtual Voter ID Clinics, produces state-by-state guidance and wallet cards, and partners with community groups to reduce ID-related barriers to voting.
Works on voting rights and ballot access issues with a laser focus on voter ID policy: educating voters about state ID rules, expanding or protecting pathways to acceptable identification, removing financial and administrative barriers to obtaining IDs, supporting funding for ID assistance programs and outreach, and promoting nonpartisan implementation and clarity of voter ID laws.
Primarily funded by foundation grants, philanthropic and individual donations, and partnership support from corporate and nonprofit collaborators.
Partners with national and local voting and civic organizations (for example Election Protection, Rock the Vote, Mi Familia Vota) and has worked with corporate partners on outreach (e.g., rideshare and social platform collaborations); prominent leaders include founder Kathleen Unger and CEO/President Lauren Kunis.
