About the Organization

The Washington State Association of Local Public Health Officials (WSALPHO) is a membership organization that represents and convenes Washington State’s local public health jurisdictions. Its mission is to advance the interests of local public health, strengthen the quality, capacity, and leadership of local health departments, educate and inform policymakers, advise state agencies, and support an effective statewide public health system.

Policy Goals

Advocacy and policy work focused on local public health funding and budgets, communicable disease control and vaccination policy, emergency preparedness and response, environmental health, maternal and child health, chronic disease prevention, public health workforce development, data sharing and surveillance, and health equity and access at the local level.

Funding

Primarily funded by membership dues and fees from local health jurisdictions, supplemented by state and federal public health grants and contracts, training and event revenue, and administrative/operational support provided through affiliation with statewide organizations.

Affiliates

Member local health jurisdictions (the 35 Washington local public health jurisdictions), Washington State Association of Counties (WSAC), Washington State Department of Health (DOH), National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) and other state and national public health partners.
