About the Organization

The Washington Association for Substance Misuse and Violence Prevention (WASAVP) is a Washington State membership organization that brings together prevention advocates to support safe, healthy communities by preventing substance misuse and violence.

Policy Goals

Substance misuse prevention, violence prevention, youth access and exposure reduction, alcohol/cannabis/tobacco and vaping policy, local control over regulated substances, impaired driving prevention, and prevention workforce training and advocacy.

Funding

Primarily membership dues, grants, and support from prevention and public health partners.

Affiliates

Founded by community-based prevention advocates and coalition coordinators; closely associated with Washington prevention coalitions and practitioners, including leaders such as Scott Waller and Linda J. Thompson.
