About the Organization

The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP) is the professional association representing pediatricians in Washington State. It works to promote the health, safety, and well‑being of infants, children, adolescents, and their families through clinical education, public education, and state‑level advocacy on pediatric health issues.

Policy Goals

Advocates for policies affecting child and adolescent health including immunization and infectious disease prevention, access to Medicaid/CHIP and pediatric primary care, preventive services and well‑child care, children's mental health, school health and safety, injury prevention, newborn and maternal health, and health equity for marginalized children and families.

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues and fees, revenue from continuing medical education and events, grants and donations, and sponsorships from health‑care organizations and foundations.

Affiliates

American Academy of Pediatrics (national), other state AAP chapters, major pediatric hospitals and academic medical centers in Washington (for example Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington School of Medicine), Washington State Department of Health, and state medical and public health organizations.
