About the Organization

The Washington Council for Economic and Financial Education (WACEFE) is a Washington state organization founded in 1978 that promotes K–12 economics and personal finance literacy by providing classroom curriculum, teacher professional development, student competitions, and public events to expand access to high-quality economic and financial education for Washington students.

Policy Goals

Advocates for K–12 economics and personal finance curriculum standards, expanded financial literacy instruction and teacher training, state education funding and public–private partnerships to support classroom resources and student programs.

Funding

Primarily funded by grants, corporate and sponsor support, individual donations, program and event fees, and philanthropic partnerships.

Affiliates

National Council for Economic Education/Council for Economic Education, Western Washington University Center for Economic and Financial Education, Financial Education Public–Private Partnership; board and partners have included state education leaders, business and financial professionals such as Washington State Senator Sharon Shewmake and a regional executive from the Federal Reserve Bank.
