About the Organization

The Washington Education Association (WEA) is the statewide labor union representing public K–12 educators and education staff in Washington State; it advocates for strong public schools, educator working conditions, student success, and equity in education through collective bargaining, political advocacy, and member services.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for increased and equitable public education funding, higher teacher and staff pay and benefits, strong collective bargaining rights, smaller class sizes and student supports, opposition to privatization and voucher programs, support for educator professional development, pension and retirement security, and policies addressing racial and educational equity and school safety.

Funding

Primarily funded by member dues, supplemented by grants, trainings, and contributions from allied labor and education organizations.

Affiliates

National Education Association (NEA); local district and building-level education associations across Washington; allied state labor organizations and education advocacy groups.
