About the Organization

The Wildlife Management Institute (WMI) is a private, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization founded in 1911 to advance the conservation, enhancement, and professional management of North America’s wildlife and other natural resources. WMI works through collaborative partnerships with state, federal, provincial, tribal, and non-profit entities to improve wildlife resource management through policy development, applied research, technical assistance, and education.

Policy Goals

Wildlife conservation and restoration, habitat management, science-based wildlife policy, public trust resource management, hunting and outdoor recreation policy, biodiversity conservation, and strengthening state and federal wildlife management programs.

Funding

Primarily funded through charitable contributions, government grants and cooperative agreements, and program service revenue.

Affiliates

Collaborates with state fish and wildlife agencies, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, provincial wildlife agencies, tribal governments, the Northeast Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and other conservation organizations.
