About the Organization

The Women’s Health Center of West Virginia is a private, nonprofit reproductive health clinic in Charleston founded in 1976 that provides gynecologic care, contraception, STI testing and treatment, cancer screening, harm reduction services and (historically) abortion care; the organization describes its mission as delivering nonjudgmental, accessible and affordable reproductive healthcare and advancing reproductive justice across West Virginia.

Policy Goals

Advocacy for reproductive health and reproductive justice (including abortion access), expanding contraceptive and family-planning services, harm reduction and overdose/HIV prevention, access to gender-affirming care, protection of Medicaid and insurance coverage for reproductive services, and health equity for low-income and rural patients.

Funding

Primarily philanthropic contributions and grants from donors and foundations, supplemented by program revenue (patient fees and insurance reimbursements, including Medicaid) and individual donations.
