The Wyoming Association of Conservation Districts (WACD) is a nonprofit organization that represents Wyoming’s 34 local conservation districts and their elected boards. Established in 1945, the association provides leadership and coordination to support the conservation of soil, water, and other natural resources across the state. WACD promotes locally driven conservation efforts, advances voluntary and incentive-based programs, and works to protect water quality, reduce soil erosion, enhance wildlife habitat, and support the health and welfare of Wyoming communities.
WACD typically pursues legislative policies related to soil and water conservation, watershed protection, water quality, rangeland health, wildlife habitat preservation, local governance of conservation districts, natural resource management, and state and federal funding for conservation programs.
The association is primarily supported through a combination of member district dues, state appropriations, local mill levy funding through conservation districts, and state and federal grants related to natural resource and water quality programs.
