YWCA USA is a national nonprofit and membership federation focused on eliminating racism, empowering women and girls, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity. It operates local YWCA affiliates and national programs addressing racial justice, gender equity, economic empowerment, violence prevention and health and childcare services.
Advocates for racial justice and civil rights, gender equity and women’s leadership, prevention of domestic and sexual violence, economic security policies (living wages, workforce development, childcare and paid leave), health equity and access, housing stability, and community-based services and supports.
Primarily funded through a mix of individual and foundation philanthropy, program service fees, corporate sponsorships, and government (federal, state, local) grants and contracts.
Local YWCA member associations across the United States and the World YWCA (global YWCA movement); commonly partners with civil rights, women’s advocacy, and survivor-support organizations.
